Job Summary:

Reporting to the VP, Market Development, the Director, Marketing and Audience Growth leads the planning and execution of marketing campaigns that engage audiences across diverse and evolving demographics in our community, deepening connections to the Winspear Centre through innovative and data-informed strategies. This role combines creativity with a strong analytical and results-oriented mindset to achieve measurable outcomes and drive success.

The Director will lead a dedicated, high-performing marketing team to expand audience reach, increase ticket sales, and maximize revenue while cultivating loyalty and affinity for the Winspear Centre. The individual will take a strategic, insight-driven approach to identifying key audience segments, prioritizing areas for growth, and tailoring marketing efforts to meet both short-term and long-term goals.

This individual will focus on enhancing the Winspear’s market visibility and value proposition to raise awareness, attract the widest possible audiences, and ensure alignment with its purpose and aspiration to foster a vibrant, engaged community.

A passion for music and its ability to transform individuals and communities is essential for this role.

Candidates who do not reside in the Edmonton area must be willing to relocate at their own expense.

What you will do:

  • Lead the Marketing team to plan and execute various marketing campaigns, including but not limited to subscriptions, membership, single tickets, education programs, and rentals
  • Obtain and analyze data to develop and evaluate all marketing strategies and plans that grow audiences and maximize revenue
  • Develop, monitor, and meet annual and long-term budgets
  • Assess opportunities to broaden and diversify the Winspear Centre’s audiences that are reflective of our community
  • Identify key audience segments, prioritize areas for growth, and tailor marketing efforts to meet both short-term and long-term goals
  • Strategize to increase new to file, retention, and frequency
  • Develop, activate, report, and analyze multiple marketing campaigns including direct marketing, digital marketing, contents marketing, and media buy
  • Support internal departments for the marketing and promotional needs
  • Develop a culture of trust, passion, curiosity, accountability, and innovation
  • Knowledge of evolutions and innovations in marketing, consumer behaviour, patron stewardship, the arts industry, the entertainment industry, societal and cultural trends, and events in the global arts community

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business and/or Commerce with a focus on Marketing or related areas
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in product marketing and sales
  • Minimum 3 years' experience leading a team
  • In-depth knowledge of marketing with proven experience in campaign execution
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage quantitative and qualitative data
  • Deep understanding of patron loyalty and retention strategies
  • Experience in digital marketing, social media marketing, photography, and video content creation, and traditional media buy
  • Expertise in budgeting, time management, and project planning
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including effective presentation abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint) and Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience with Tessitura is a plus.
