Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer, the Director of Finance is responsible to ensure financial integrity and viability of the organization and to ensure organizational assets are maintained and protected.

What you will do:

  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets and forecasts, and monitor financial health and performance
  • Provide accurate annual, quarterly, monthly and ‘ad hoc’ financial information and reports in accordance with accepted accounting standards
  • Conduct financial analysis of internal activities to assist management by providing insight into decision making
  • Coordinate meetings with management to review financial performance against budget or forecasts
  • Monitor and report on investment performance
  • Complete reports for government agencies, and funders
  • Oversee employee compensation and benefits
  • Oversee vendor management and relationships, including facility vendors
  • Engage with auditors and ensure all information is prepared and available
  • Participate and lead committees including with Board members, and team members
  • Supervise and inspire staff to meet their job expectations and professional development

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree specializing in Finance
  • CPA designation is required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior financial management preferably in a nonprofit organization
  • Knowledge of best practices for financial processes and policies; familiar with not-for-profit accounting guidelines
  • Understanding of employee-related legislation and best practices
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • A clear criminal record check
